Kick-off-Meeting

The kick-off meeting of the Tempus project "Advanced Training in Integrated Sustainable Waste Management for Siberian Companies and Authorities" – "TIWaSiC" was held at the East Siberia State University of Technology and Management (ESSUTM) in Ulan-Ude on May 12-15, 2014. The meeting took place at the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Republic of Buryatia and at East Siberia State University of Technology and Management.

The main objectives of the kick-off meeting were to introduce the participants of the project consortium, to present the main ideas and aims of the project, to distribute the tasks between the partners, to discuss the nine work packages, as well as to approve the plan for project implementation and to discuss in more detail the tasks for the year 2014. In addition, the project management, the developing of the project website, the purchase of technical equipment as well as the possible financial cooperation were also discussed during the meeting.

Christoph Wünsch and Olga Ulanova are responsible for the general project management, representing the European and Russian party, respectively. The Project Steering Committee will make strategical decisions on the realisation and development of the project. The Project Steering Committee consists of legally accountable persons, who will be responsible for the realisation of the project in the corresponding institutions (universities, industrial companies, associations and administrative units), which they are affiliated to.

The head of the project and the coordinator of the project cooperate with the leaders of the work packages and the contact persons from each of the partner organisations. The members of the Steering Committee and the leaders of the work packages meet at least once a year to discuss the results of the implementation of the work packages, the upcoming tasks and activities as well as the strategic decisions. At the same time, the project will be evaluated internally.

Following the kick-off meeting, the participants have visited a waste sorting plants as well as plants for used tyre recycling and thermal treatment of medical waste in Ulan-Ude.
